Community Support Services (CSS) Village in the heart of Sydney’s diverse and multicultural Bankstown was founded four years ago by Mona as a support hub for local women and families in need. Close to Mona’s heart is the therapeutic, healing and community environment that CSS Village programs have created. Mona takes a holistic approach to empowering people and giving them the tools to survive through a variety of educational and practical support programs. CSS village’s successful sewing circles has seen 65 women graduate with sewing skills and now offers women an introductory sewing unit in partnership with TAFE. The circle is also becoming a thriving social enterprise, partnering with fashion labels requiring assistance to make seasonal garments. The grant will further support the local sewing skills and help Mona to source for the ethical fashion supply chain.
